Gordon Wilson Dromara, Co. Down

Gordon, his wife Julie and 3 children milk 100 Autumn and Spring calving Holstein Friesian cows on the family farm near Dromara in Co Down, his father Cecil is also actively involved on the farm everyday.

Gordon maximises the use of grazed grass for milk production, a focus on liming grassland over the last few years has greatly improved grass and silage quality.

Attention to detail on the farm is important with cow cubicles kept clean and dry using lime, a robot scraper is used to keep passageways in the cow housing clean. Cows are milked and fed concentrate in a Fullwood 16 aside swing over milking Parlour.
